Knitting has huge benefits to our health and wellbeing, and can be an incredible tool for fidgety children as it is both soothing and constructive. It helps to build confidence and self esteem with the production of their own knitted article. Research has shown that mobility and dexterity in the fine motor muscles, especially those of hand, may actually stimulate cellular development in the brain and strengthen the physical foundation of thinking.
Knitting is fun, creative, relaxing and anyone can learn!
Laura will teach you the basic stitches including a touchy feely intro into yarn, needles and other knitting notions.
During the session Laura will show you step by step, cast on, knit and purl stitch, which combined will create stocking stitch and garter stitch, and cast off.
By the end of the workshop, you will have learnt:
You will then be encouraged to experiment with your newfound skills to create your own scarf/cowl.
Yarn and needles will be available to buy for your own future use but all other materials will be provided.
An interesting/quirky fact about Ava and Arthur; I named my business after my daughter Ava, now 8 and Arthur is the Cat!
