ABOUT US
I’m Emma, the lady working frantically behind the scenes to ensure that Workshop & Play delivers the sessions you want! I’m a born and bred Bedfordshire girl and have had my roots down in Ampthill for more than 12 years now.
So why have I started Workshop & Play? I’ve always thought there was more out there for me, that maybe working for someone else’s successful business (or not in some cases!) wasn’t all that I was meant to do with my life. My head has been buzzing for at least the last 12 years (which just so happens to coincide with the birth of my first daughter - a coincidence? Mmmm, maybe!); full of ideas about new business ventures, how I’m going to achieve a better work-life balance, how I can see more of my friends, support the community and work locally. Okay, the occasional thought may have involved winning millions by doing the EuroMillions Double-Rollover (because the normal lottery just wouldn’t be enough for me, and my pals!) Thankfully, I haven’t relied on that plan!
It was only in February 2017, when my last company downsized (gave me the boot!) that I felt the time was right to follow my dreams. Now, I finally feel brave enough to move ahead, and I am confident that Workshop & Play will be a welcome addition to life in Ampthill.
A little more about me…what makes me tick? I am blessed with two beautiful girls (three if you include my fur baby Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Ruby). I like nothing more than a good walk around Ampthill Park, a snuggle with my girls on a Sunday afternoon and a gin cocktail, actually any cocktail, with the lovely friends in my life.
I love bright colours, quirky ornaments, pretty stationery and I'm a demon on the dance floor… don’t get me wrong, I'm no Darcy Bussel, but I do the best caterpillars! I hate exercising (I did far too much sport as a youngster) and since discovering life outside sport (aged 24yrs), I seem to have been on a permanent diet!
Other than that, I’m just trying to make life nice for me and mine.
So, if you’re passing Workshop & Play on one of our open sessions, please do pop in and share your story and ambitions with me. You never know…out of nothing, could come something.
Wishing you all a creative and above all else, happy life.
Emma
